MAPFRE Middlesea supports local historians

MAPFRE Middlesea has proudly sponsored awards towards Maltese historians whose publications have contributed towards historical studies.

The Malta Historical Society, which founded in 1950, works to distribute knowledge about the history of Malta and to safeguard Maltese historical heritage.
The NGO promotes the discussion of history through public lectures and by disseminating the results of historical research and debate through its publications. It also speaks for the interest of history and historians and offers awards to those historians whose publications have contributed towards Maltese historical studies. The awards acknowledge excellence in scholarly articles on Maltese history published in Malta and abroad by established Maltese and foreign authors as well as articles by new entrants in the field of historical research.
“ We value the importance of our heritage and our history and that is why we choose to support the Malta Historical Society. We must not forget the path that led us to where we are now,” Chairman Martin Galea said when presenting the sponsorship cheque to Prof. Roger Ellul Micallef.

MAPFRE Middlesea supports a number of different NGOs working in various sectors through financial support and through its MAPFRE volunteer programme.
Mapfre Middlesea p.l.c. (C-5553) is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on both Long Term and General Business under the Insurance Business Act, 1998.
