Winner of Social Innovation Challenge announced

The Social Innovation Challenge: Enable and Engage was a competition launched last year encouraging the public to come up with innovative ideas for the elderly and people with disability continued this week as the awards were presented. The competition organized by the Edward de Bono Institute at the University of Malta in collaboration with the for Parliamentary Secretariat for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing was sponsored by MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life. The challenged encouraged the general public to identify solutions to areas where the quality of life of persons with disability and the elderly,

On Monday 24th of April, Parliamentary Secretary for Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Hon. Justyne Caruana, awarded the winning entry to Dr John Mary Farrugia. Dr . Farrugia came up with an innovative mobile phone designed specifically to assist the elderly in their daily life.

Addressing the event, Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana said that the Government is always open to new ideas that lead to greater efficiency and effectiveness and that allow the elderly and people with disability to better integrate within society.

The Parliamentary Secretary thanked the Edward De Bono Institute and main sponsors MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life for their participation in the event.
