Dear clients and stakeholders,
 
In these times of difficulties our thoughts are with all those affected by the global coronavirus outbreak and with their families, and also with all those who, like us, are concerned with the evolution of the pandemic and its consequences. We also believe that we all need to act in coordination to contribute to the containment of this virus and so we are implementing our internal contingency plan.
 
Our objective is two-fold: to protect the health of our employees, collaborators and clients and, at the same time, to guarantee the provision of the services that we are committed to providing, with the highest possible quality at all times. This is in line with our Business Continuity Plan, which we are deploying in all the countries in which we operate.
 
Any decisions we are taking reflect the expert advice of healthcare organisations and government authorities, and are driven by our reputation as a trusted global insurer.
 
I would like to share with you the steps our company is taking to avoid exposure to the virus, to support the health authorities, and to respond efficiently as circumstances demand.
 
In Malta, 75% of our employees are already working remotely. In order to continue providing basic services, we have maintained a minimum number of staff at our offices, and we are taking extensive measures to protect the wellbeing of our people and of clients who visit the premises. We are doing all we can to contain this pandemic.
 
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we provide an extensive range of services online, including the payment of renewals, the purchase of new insurance policies, the lodging of claims, as well as assistance to clients via our bot Emma, which is available 24/7 on our website and Facebook page in order to assist you with your queries.
 
I would also like to convey a message of optimism for the future. How we respond to challenges such as this reflects who we are and what we stand for. At MAPFRE we will continue to put our employees and our clients first, in a spirit of transparency and responsibility. We are all in this together, and more importantly, we will all get through this together.
