A selection of artistic works by contemporary artist Marco Cremona are featured in the recently published Middlesea Group 2005 calendar. The Middlesea Group calendar is today a much sought after collector's item for those who are interested in the arts, and this year's calendar is no exception. Featuring works by one of Malta's most talented artists, who is recognised for his abstract creations which fuse painting and sculpture, the Middlesea calendar is a work of art in itself.
Cremona's multifaceted works are a personal language consisting of abstract shapes. Through his creations, he explores both the figurative and the abstract idiom in painting and in sculpture. Describing himself as a sculptor, he experiments with an array of materials utilising a diversity of media in the abstract form. His works harmonise painting and sculpture with the intention of harmonising matter and spirit.
A commended artist, Cremona has exhibited his works in individual and collective exhibitions on numerous occasions both in Malta and in various European countries including London, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Austria. His works grace the Parish Churches of St Julian's, St Andrews, Mellieha, Hamrun and Zebbug. His vast portfolio of works include a crucifix for the Maltese House of Representatives, a set of postage stamps on occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Council of Europe and a monument in honour of sculptor Antonio Sciortino.
Middlesea Group is comprised of Middlesea Insurance p.l.c., Middlesea Valletta Life Assurance Company Ltd, International Insurance Management Services Ltd and Progress Assicurazioni S.p.A.
