Middlesea enhances Trip Cancellation Insurance Cover Middlesea Insurance has upgraded its travel insurance plans to include optional cover for expenses incurred following cancellation of a trip by air or sea caused by extreme weather conditions or a natural catastrophe. Mr Keith Mallia Milanes, Chief Officer Underwriting explained that the provision of this insurance cover has been made available following an increased demand by travelers in recent weeks. ‘The Icelandic volcanic ash phenomenon has triggered widespread demand for protecting travelers subjected to cancellation of their holidays or business trips by unexpected weather conditions which are well beyond their control’. Mr Mallia Milanes said that the cover now being provided by Middlesea applies not only for trip cancellation caused by volcanic ash but also for any other extreme weather conditions or natural disasters which necessitate airline companies having to cancel their flights. This new cover is provided up to a limit of €2000 per person to cover the reimbursement costs of prepaid flight tickets, transportation, tours, hotel accommodation and other related expenses.
