By means of this agreement a patient who is insured under one of Middlesea Insurance plc’s health insurance policy or a Laferla healthplan will not need to pay hospital fees upon discharge as these would be payable directly by Middlesea Insurance plc/ Laferla on the strength of the Agreement signed by all parties.

The Agreement was signed by Maria Bugeja for Saint James Hospital and Simon Anastasi, Chief Officer for Middlesea Insurance plc and Mark Laferla, Managing Director of Laferla Insurance Agency Ltd, agents for Middlesea Insurance plc and managing the Laferla healthplans.  The Agreement encompasses medical procedures and services carried out in both Saint James Hospital locations of Sliema and Zabbar and serves to facilitate direct settlement of eligible insured medical services. Furthermore all parties, by means of this relationship have demonstrated their commitment to put the patient first in times of need without the necessity to worry about financial matters during difficult times of ill health when the patient’s priority should be that of recovering within the least hardship and possible time.

Simon Anastasi commented on the advantages of such a relationship. ‘Middlesea Insurance plc can boast that it has always had an excellent relationship with Saint James Hospital, our priority is and will remain the wellbeing of all our insured clients. This Agreement provides peace of mind but it also guarantees that a high quality medical service is provided to our insured patients.’ Mark Laferla also expressed his satisfaction ‘Laferla Insurance Agency Ltd have been agents for Middlesea Insurance plc for a number of years and together we have always endeavoured to improve on our renowned service especially when it comes to the prompt payment of claims. This Agreement is another milestone which enables us to continue providing this unparalleled service to our clients through our Laferla healthplans.’
