Middlesea Insurance p.l.c. is sponsoring the 36^th World Medical Tennis Society (WMTS) Annual Congress which will be held at the Hilton Malta from October 14 to 21, 2006.

Malta was chosen to host the event at the 2003 Congress in Bali. The event incorporates an international congress on Sports Medicine and Preventive Medicine and the Doctors’ World Tennis Championships.

The WMTS conference aims to promote physical fitness though tennis and to support the exchange of professional experience. Sessions on recent medical advances will be held.

This sponsorship is in line with Middlesea Insurance’s corporate social responsibility policy. The Company is committed to promote healthy living and health through sports.

The World Medical Tennis Society was founded in 1971 by Dr Stanley R. McCampbell, an Oklahoma cardiologist, and Bill Drake, the first executive secretary. The Maltese association was accepted as an associate member in 1984 and in the 1990s Malta was represented on the executive committee.
